Choosing the outcomes that will make the biggest difference to students’ financial behaviour
- Identify the learning outcomes and financial behaviours that the program will target
- Assemble a panel of experts on financial capability and education to advise on program outcomes and objectives
- Align program outcomes and objectives to ASIC’s National Consumer Financial Literacy Framework and the Australian Curriculum
Building educational content that is engaging
and fun
- Appoint a content development team with expertise in education and behaviour change to develop content that drives behaviour change
- Ensure our final content aligns to the National Consumer Financial Literacy Framework and the Australian Curriculum
Ensuring our program is the best it can be
- Pilot workshops in schools for student and teacher audiences
- Gather feedback from teachers, students and advisors on how we could improve program content and delivery
- Refine content based on teacher and student feedback and implement changes to improve program effectiveness
Selecting the right people to bring our
content to life
- Determine our ideal facilitator, based on what the program is teaching and the target age group
- Select high quality facilitators though a robust interview process
- Train and onboard facilitators over a full school term, through training, shadowing and mentoring
Ensuring our program maintains a high quality, and improves over time
- Collect feedback from students and teachers to measure program satisfaction, quality and impact
- Update content regularly in response to feedback and new research on financial education
- Formally measure facilitator quality twice a year
- Work with external organisations, such as the Australian Council of Education Research and the Business Educators of Australia to:
- Test the impact Start Smart is having
- Validate Start Smart’s alignment to the Australian Curriculum
